Notes from the job
The answers we got tired of giving over the phone.
Every one of these started as a real question from a real driveway. Dmitriy answers, Olga types it up. No seasonal tips written by somebody who has never held a sprayer in the rain.
- Numbers: what a coat costs, how long a stain lasts on a west-facing deck, what rot repair adds.
- Things you can check yourself before texting anybody — with a screwdriver and ten minutes.
- “Top 10 paint colours for 2026.” We are painters, not a magazine.

Why paint peels in the Pacific Northwest, and how to tell whose fault it was
Nine times out of ten it is not the paint. It is a wall that was washed but not dried, primer skipped on bare cedar, or a coat sprayed at 48°F because the crew wanted to finish on Friday.
- Blisters the size of a coin mean moisture came from behind the wall, not from the brush
- Chalk on your palm means the paint did its years — that one is nobody's fault
- Sheets peeling to bare wood mean no primer, and that is a redo, not a touch-up
