What Kenmore houses need
Kenmore started as a shingle-mill town on the north shore of Lake Washington in 1901, and only became a city in 1998. The neighbourhoods came in layers: Arrowhead goes back to the first homesteads, the Moorlands grew after a bridge crossed the river around 1918, Inglewood was platted in 1953 and Uplake Terrace followed. Much of the housing is mid-century and later, much of it on slopes that look out over the lake.
The Sammamish River splits the city in two, and the Burke-Gilman Trail runs along the shoreline. Between the lake, the river and the trees, a lot of Kenmore stays damp through the winter. Decks built for the lake view, cedar fences and the shaded sides of houses are where that shows first: grey, soft wood and moss in the corners.

When should we book deck staining near the lake?
Book the estimate in spring. Staining needs the wood clean and dry, and near the water that means the drier summer weeks.
Our cedar fence is grey. Can it be saved?
Usually. Cleaning takes off most of the grey, split or soft boards are replaced, and then the fence is stained. If the posts are rotten at the ground, fence repair comes first.
Can you work on a deck with long stairs down the slope?
Yes. Stairs and railings on raised decks are checked and repaired as part of the job, and the extra setup is included in the written price.
