Interior painting, room by room or the whole house
Interior painting runs $3–$5 per square foot. Most rooms land between $450 and $900, and a full interior usually takes our crew 2–5 days. Walls, ceilings and trim are covered by a written two-year warranty, and the estimate is free.

Interior painting we have photographed

Everything the job includes, in the order we do it
- 01
Walk the rooms with you
Dmitriy measures each room, notes the ceilings, trim and doors you want done, and writes one price for the lot.
- 02
Clear and cover
Furniture goes to the middle of the room under plastic. Floors are covered wall to wall before a lid comes off a can.
- 03
Fill and patch
Nail holes, dents and hairline cracks are filled and sanded flat, so the repair disappears under the finish instead of showing through it.
- 04
Caulk the trim
Gaps where baseboard and casing meet the wall get a thin bead of caulk. It is the difference between trim that looks painted and trim that looks new.
- 05
Prime where it needs it
Patches, stains and big colour changes get a primer coat first. A dark wall going light needs it; a white wall staying white usually does not.
- 06
Ceilings first, then walls
Work goes top down so drips land on surfaces that have not been painted yet. Walls get two coats, rolled, with the edges cut in by brush.
- 07
Trim and doors last
Baseboards, casings and doors are brushed in a harder enamel that stands up to vacuums, shoes and hands.
- 08
Last day
Put the room back
Plastic comes up, furniture goes back, and you walk the rooms with us. Anything you point at gets touched up before we leave.
Two coats with the edges cut by hand is slower than one heavy coat. It is also the version that still looks right in two years, which is how long the warranty runs.

What interior painting costs
The rate covers walls and ceilings measured on site. Ceiling height, colour changes, how much patching the walls need and how much trim you want painted move the price inside the range. The number on the written estimate is the one you pay.
| Scope | Typical timeline | Starting at |
|---|---|---|
| Walls and ceilings, priced by area | 2–5 days | $3 / sq ft |
| A single room | Quoted on site | $450 |
| Full interior | 2–5 days | $2,500 |
| Drywall patches before paint | Quoted on site | $150 minimum |
A full interior is usually $2,500–$5,000; a single bedroom usually lands between $450 and $900.
Do we need to move out while you paint?
No. We work room by room, so the rest of the house stays usable, and each room is put back as soon as it is finished. Water-based paint is dry to the touch within a few hours.
Should we empty the rooms first?
Take down pictures and put away anything small or valuable. Beds, sofas and dressers can stay: we move them to the middle of the room and cover them, then put them back when the room is finished.
Do you paint ceilings and trim, or just walls?
All three, and doors too. Tell us what you want at the estimate and it goes on the written price as separate lines, so you can see what each part costs and drop anything you would rather leave.
How do we pick a colour?
Buy two or three sample pots and paint large swatches on two different walls. Colours shift a lot between the north light most rooms get here in winter and the evening lamps, so look at them at both times before you choose.
Can you paint kitchen cabinets?
Yes, cabinets are quoted as part of an interior job. Doors come off, get cleaned and sanded, and are painted flat before they go back on. Tell us at the estimate so we can price the doors and boxes separately.
What does the two-year warranty cover?
Peeling, flaking, blistering and failing seams in the work we did. It does not cover normal wear, damage, the house settling, or paint someone else puts over ours later. It is written on the estimate you sign.

Planning an interior repaint without living in a construction zone
How to decide which rooms to do first, which sheens hold up where, and what to ask any painter before they start moving your furniture.
Which rooms to paint first
Start with the rooms that take the most wear: hallways, the kitchen and kids’ rooms. They show scuffs first and they are where a washable finish pays off. Bedrooms and formal rooms can wait for a second visit without anyone noticing. If you plan to sell in the next year, do the entry, the kitchen and the main living space and leave the rest.
Sheen by room
Flat hides patched and uneven walls, which is why it goes on most ceilings. Matte and eggshell are the usual choice for living rooms and bedrooms. Kitchens, bathrooms and hallways do better in satin, which you can wipe without leaving a shiny mark. Trim and doors go a step glossier than the walls around them because they get touched every day.
Damp rooms and winter painting
Bathrooms without a working fan grow mildew on the ceiling first. Painting over it only hides it for a season, so the ceiling gets cleaned and primed before the finish coat. Interior work runs all year, but in winter the house needs to stay heated while the paint dries, so leave the thermostat where it normally is.
What to ask before you hire
Ask how many coats are included, whether ceilings and trim are in the price, how the floors are protected, and what the warranty covers in writing. A quote that only says “paint three rooms” leaves all of those decisions for the day the crew arrives.
