Measure the opening
Door, frame and rough opening are measured on site, along with which way the door should swing.

Choose the door
You pick the door and hardware, and we confirm it fits the opening before anything is ordered.

Protect the floor
Floors on both sides of the door are covered before the old door comes out.

Remove the old door
The old slab, and the frame if it is being replaced, come out carefully so the wall around them survives.

Check the opening
On exterior doors the sill and framing are checked for rot. What we find is shown to you and priced before it is repaired.

Hang, level and seal
The door is set plumb and level so it closes without sticking. Exterior doors are sealed and flashed against water.

Hardware and trim
Handles, locks and hinges are fitted, and trim goes on around the frame.

What door replacement costs
Pre-hung or slab, solid or hollow, and the hardware you choose set most of the price. Exterior doors cost more because of weatherproofing, locks and sills. Rot found when the old door comes out is priced before it is repaired.

Do you replace sliding patio doors?
Yes. The patio door job in our photos shows the whole process: the old slider out, the empty opening, and the new door in with fresh trim outside. Patio doors vary a lot in size, so they are quoted on site.
Can we supply our own door?
Yes. Send us the details before you order so we can check it against the opening, and the estimate will cover installation and trim.
Pre-hung or just the slab?
If the frame is square and sound, a new slab can go into it. If the frame is worn, rotten or out of square, a pre-hung door with its own frame is the cleaner fix.
Our door sticks and drafts. Does it need replacing?
Not always. Sometimes adjusting the hinges and replacing weatherstripping is enough, and that is a handyman visit instead of a new door. We will tell you which one you need.
Can you change the lock and handle at the same time?
Yes. New hardware is fitted as part of the installation. Buy the set you want or ask us to pick one up.
Is installation covered by a warranty?
Yes, one year in writing on the installation: fit, operation and sealing. The door itself is covered by its manufacturer.
