Fence repair: posts, panels and gates
Fence repair runs $300–$1,500. Post resets and single-panel swaps are usually $300–$600 and take 1–2 days. Larger repairs and gate rebuilds sit higher. The repair carries a written one-year warranty, and the estimate is free.

- 01
Find out why it failed
A leaning section is usually a rotten post at the soil line. A sagging gate is usually its frame, not its hinges. We look for the cause, not just the symptom.
- 02
Price each fix
The estimate lists posts, panels and gates separately, so you can fix the urgent part now and leave the rest.
- 03
Brace the fence
The panels on either side are held in place while a post comes out, so the rest of the fence does not come with it.
- 04
Replace the post
The old post and its footing come out, and the new post is set plumb and in line with its neighbours.
- 05
Boards, rails and panels
Broken boards and rails are replaced to match the size and spacing of the existing fence.
- 06
Gates
Sagging gates are squared up or rebuilt, rehung and fitted with a latch that catches.

Clean up
Old posts and boards are hauled away and we check the repair with you.
When most of the posts are going, repairs start costing close to a new fence. If that is where your fence is, we will price both.

What fence repair costs
The number of posts is what moves the price most. Replacing boards is quick; digging out rotten posts and their footings takes longer. New cedar will look lighter than the old fence until it weathers or is stained.
| Scope | Typical timeline | Starting at |
|---|---|---|
| Post reset or single panel | 1–2 days | $300 |
| Several sections or a gate rebuild | 1–2 days | $600 |
| Full cedar fence replacement | 2–4 days | $45 / linear ft |
Post resets and single-panel swaps are usually $300–$600.
Part of our fence blew over. Can it be fixed?
Usually, yes. Wind takes down sections where the posts have already rotted at the ground. The fix is new posts under that section, then the panels go back up or get replaced if they broke.
Repair or replace the whole fence?
If one or two posts have failed and the rest are solid, repair it. If the posts are soft all along the line, the next windstorm will find the next weak one, and a new fence is the better spend.
Our gate drags on the ground. Can you fix that?
Yes. A dragging gate is usually a frame that has racked out of square or a post that has leaned. We square the frame or rebuild it, and reset the post if that is the cause.
Will the new boards match?
They will match in size and spacing. The colour will not match until the new cedar weathers or the fence is stained, which we can quote as a separate line.
Can you fix a fence we share with a neighbour?
Yes, as long as both of you agree to the repair and we can get to both sides. Settle who is paying before the estimate.
Is the repair covered by a warranty?
Yes, one year in writing on the posts, boards and hardware we installed. It does not cover parts of the fence we did not work on.
